GSX 2 Jetways

Post by marknie » Thu Jan 10, 2019 11:13 pm

If anyone wants to add GSX 2 Jetways, just simply move the Flightbeam_KPDX.xml file from C:\ProgramData\12bPilot\SODE\xml folder to a safe place and then move the Flightbeam_KPDX folder from C:\ProgramData\12bPilot\SODE\SimObjects and then you can use the GSX Level 2 Control panel and add the new Jetways. There are about 46 Jetways and it takes about 3 hours. Have fun!

Why would anyone want to do that? GSX 2 jetways don't dock to AI aircraft and are therefore much less desirable!
Bill's SODE jetways are perfectly fine.

I like to watch the people board. Its just a personal preference. I dont care if the AI dock or not.

Let's keep the unnecessary questions to a minimum. Everyone has a right to offer something to the public.

If one doesn't like it they simply do not need to reply. If they do like it, it's there choice whether they want to use it or not.

Let's keep it at that!

My question was not intended to be rude or anything, I was genuinely curious and didn't think of the people boarding through jetways. And since Bill's jetways are very nicely done, I was really curious to know why someone would want to do this.

Thank you for clarifying @mburkhard. I was not questioning your intent, simply making it known that we will keep the forums a place for everyone. Some other forums in the sim community get quite out of hand and I was simply making sure we were all on the same page. :D

Thank you again.

Thanks Sammy. Well now that this has been cleared up, I would like to suggest to the original poster to simply share the GSX ini file for KPDX, which is created as soon as one edits the GSX stuff for an airport. That way other people won't have to invest hours to change their jetways.

I'd like to point out two things:

1. If you're running KPDX 1.1 or above, disabling or moving the Flightbeam_kpdx.xml file from SODE will have the unintended effect of removing the windsocks as well, so proceed with caution.
2. The style of jetway used at the real KPDX doesn't have windows, so to be really accurate you can't see people boarding anyway.

Just two things to know.

I actually did not remove the xml file on my machine, I just edited the Stand entries. So the windsocks are intact. I also, see the people boarding on the jetway very clearly as well as the crew boarding. I also timed it to FS2Crew. Its very enjoyable. I've always been a fan of Bills work and umberto (GSX) work. Too bad the developers cant work together.

This is a KPDX screen shot but the angle doesnt show the people clearly but with the right angle you can even see them from the cockpit.

Again, this is all personal preference with GSX2. PDX does not have glass jetways as Bill has stated.

Yes, if you use the wrong style airbridge you can see the passengers boarding. Here's a shot of how the bridges look at KPDX, though...

Port of Portland has done a really good job of keeping PDX in great condition, constantly remodeling areas when necessary. I always feel very comfortable at that airport. But those jetways really do look tired: like they joined a bunch of rusty old cargo containers and added some wheels. :-)

I guess they're putting in the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" category, at least for now. Maybe when the new E-gates expansion is done, they're retrofit the whole place with new jetways.

Thanks marknie...did as you suggested and worked fine. I'm also one that likes seeing the passengers board. Did the .xml so only the gates are gone but the windsocks continue to work. And, your right...after the GSX gates are placed each one has to be adjusted to the scenery...long process.

Thanks again.

THANK YOU marknie!!!!

Works like a charm with no adverse effects.

I had been trying to figure this out with other add-ons as well.

There is nothing wrong with trying to get your money's worth of GSX Lvl 2 eye candy.

I prefer seeing the PAX board and deboard as well even if it is not a realistic looking gate.

Thanks a lot man! Saved me hours! Cheers!
